Youth without Regrets, Empowered by Leading Figures | The First Exclusive Class for BHI Freshmen of 2025
The First Lesson of School
On September 1st, the first class for the freshmen of 2025 in Beijing Hospitality Institute was held grandly in the Golden Hall of Grand Metropark Longxi Conference Center Beijing. The first class invited Dr. Zhang Rungang, Vice President of China Tourism Association, Dr. Xin Tao, Secretary General of China Tourist Hotel Association, and Dr. Gao Songtao, President of Beijing Hospitality Institute, to give joint lectures to the freshmen. More than one thousand freshmen, newly hired teachers, and representatives of the school management cadres together attended this highly valuable first class.
Dr. Zhang Rungang shared his 42 years industry experience as the “first gift of school opening” for the future hoteliers of China.
Dr. Xin Tao shared on the theme of “Hotel Industry brings you a colorful life ----the growth path from BHI.”
Dr. Gao Songtao warmly welcomed the freshmen to join BHI, and gave a profound, warm, and highly infectious “first class of the school” to all of them around the theme of “Your Future, We Empower.”
Dr. Gao introduced BHI to the freshmen: the core values of BHI“respect, professionalism, and responsibility,” globally leading talent cultivation model of BHI, the unique “formative” BHI campus culture, the close cooperation between the school and the industry, and the rich resources of school-enterprise cooperation. He explained to the students about the code for grooming, dressing and etiquette, as well as student self-governing organizations such as the Teacher-Student Discipline Committee, encouraging them to actively participate in campus management. Dr. Gao emphasized that the core competitiveness of the hotel and pan-service industry lies in the “dual capabilities of being an upright person and doing right things.” Starting from next week, freshmen will enter the classrooms dressed in formal attire, which is an important part of the campus culture of BHI and the first step in shaping their professionalism. He looks forward to seeing the freshmen enter the college classrooms with a brand new spirit.
Dr. Gao elaborated on the meaning of the school motto “integrating knowledge and practice, applying knowledge in practice" and the 5H educational philosophy (Hand Hands, Head Brain, Heart Heart, Health, Happiness). He encouraged the students to be willing to practice, pointing out that “To be hands-on is not just about practical skills, but also about cultivating habits.”He hopes that all the freshmen could reflect on themselves every day, review whether they have made progress or helped others on that day, and learn to think with a managerial mindset. He also encouraged them to aspire to study diligently and study hard in college, to be down-to-earth, start from tiny things, pay attention to details, cultivate creativity, aesthetics, and empathy, cultivate interests and hobbies, persist in sports, maintain both physical and mental health, and confidently grow to be the one making their parents proud of. He encouraged the students with the words “Youth without regrets,” hoping that they would establish a correct outlook on life, values, and career, and become responsible young people in the new era and socialist builders who benefit themselves, others, society, and the country through their own efforts, . As the Chief Service Officer of BHI, he promised to support and empower the growth of the students with all the faculty and staff wholeheartedly.
