High-end Event Volunteer Service | Escorting the China Open for Nine Consecutive Years, 103 BHI Volunteers Officially Went on Duty This Year

On September 20th, the China Open Tennis Tournament (hereinafter referred to as “the China Open”) officially kicked off. As a high-end business service talent training base for the China Open, Beijing Hospitality Institute has entered its ninth year of providing volunteer service for the event this year. In 2025, a total of 103 outstanding BHI students were selected to participate in this volunteer service. Since the opening of the event, volunteers have been on duty in batches and in an orderly manner, dedicating themselves to the service work with a professional attitude.

In order to meet the high standard service demands of the China Open, the organizers have specially opened up two core positions for BHI students: concierge service assistant and private room service assistant, which require higher professional qualities and practical abilities of volunteers.

To ensure that the service quality is highly consistent with the event standards, the responsible teachers of BHI carefully organized special pre-job training for students who participated in volunteer services before the start of the competition, systematically explaining the service process, etiquette norms, and key points of emergency response. At the same time, they assign the volunteers to conduct on-site inspections at the event venues, familiarize themselves with the venue layout, functional zoning, and work flow, to help all the volunteers prepare well for the service tasks in the best state and with the best readiness, injecting youthful energy into the smooth development of the China Open.

Wang Wenxuan, a BHI student of the Class 2022 , was interviewed by the Daily Special Issue of the China Open for his outstanding performance. The following is an interview for the special issue:

Three visits to the China Open

Transforming through service and leadership

At the China Open, Wang Wenxuan, a student from BHI, appeared particularly special. This is his third time participating in the grand event of the  China Open as a volunteer, but unlike the previous two times, he has completed the transition from an ordinary participant to the head of participants, continuing to write about his inseparable bond with the China Open. Wang Wenxuan is responsible for the concierge and private room services of the China Open, which is located at the core of the event and needs to meet the high standard demands of the VIP guests. He admitted that in the early stage he needed to adjust his mindset from a student to a service provider,“serving guests professionally and naturally” was a big challenge, but after three special training sessions (mobilization meeting, job details, service etiquette) organized by the China Open Organizing Committee and BHI, he quickly grew into a qualified “China Open person.” He also mentioned that this year’s China Open has incorporated more AI technology elements, adding a modern and fresh feel to the event.

When asked why he chose China Open for the third time, Wang Wenxuan said that it stems from a profound sense of belonging and responsibility. “At the first two times I studied and experienced as an ordinary volunteer, but this time my identity has changed becoming a person who serves and manages volunteers.” As the student leader, he needed to coordinate and convey information to ensure that the students in charge of concierge and private room services could smoothly take up their posts. The change in this role brought him a broader understanding of the system and spirit of the China Open volunteer service.

As the“big brother”of the team, Wang Wenxuan not only improved his organizational and management abilities, but also witnessed the transmission of the spirit of volunteer in the China Open. He shared that on the first day of work, experienced students would guide new students to familiarize themselves with the work to every detail step by step, from placing items to the matters for attention. “This selfless‘imparting, helping and guiding’ is the inheritance of the spirit of the China Open.” In his opinion, the warmth in teamwork is the most valuable gain of volunteer service.

For the new students who are about to join the China Open family in the future, this “veteran of three sessions” sends a sincere message: “The journey in the China Open may be full of fatigue, but please persevere until the end. When you look back, you will definitely find a new self that has experienced growth and transformation.”In Wang Wenxuan, we see the responsibility and growth of contemporary young volunteers. His “China Open story”is not only a personal journey of honing abilities, but also a vivid protagonist about love, responsibility, and inheritance.003.jpg

From holding hands for the first time to working together for the ninth year, the cooperation between Beijing Hospitality Institute and the China Open has gone beyond simple volunteer service delivery, forming a virtuous cycle of “cultivation in event, growth in practice.” The smooth onboarding and professional performance of the 103 volunteers is a vivid footnote to this cycle —— the China Open provides students with a high-end platform to transform classroom knowledge into practical skills, while BHI students inject stable and reliable youth energy into the event with continuous improvement of service quality, allowing the professional, responsible, and inherited spirit of volunteer to continuously accumulate over nine years.

The tradition of “imparting, helping and guiding” mentioned by Wang Wenxuan is actually a concrete manifestation of the spirit of nine years’ volunteering. From the experience sharing of old volunteers with new members, to the overall coordination of the team by student leaders, this endogenous growth force enables every BHI volunteer to quickly integrate into the event service and complete self transformation through it.

For BHI, the nine-year history of China Open escort is not only a vivid display of educational achievements, but also an important extension of the practical teaching system. Through deep integration with high-end events, the school is able to continuously optimize its talent training program, making the goal of “cultivating high-end talents that meet industry needs”resonate with the volunteer service of high-end events.

In the future, BHI will continue to take the volunteer service for the China Open as a link, allowing more students to gain growth through the refinement of high-end events. At the same time, with more professional service capabilities, BHI will continue to write more exciting chapters with the China Open.
