Student Activities | BHI Students Shine at 2026 YHS Summit in Lausanne, Switzerland: Achieving Outstanding Results and Supporting FHS Event Preparation
Recently, the 2026 Young Hospitality Summit (YHS) successfully concluded at the EHL Hospitality Business School (EHL) in Lausanne, Switzerland. Faculty member Fan Yangyang from the Human Resources Management Teaching and Research Office of the Academic Affairs Department at Beijing Hospitality Institute, led Shu Yuxin and Qiao Sirui, students of the Class of 2023 majoring in Hospitality Management, to attend the summit. The two students performed outstandingly in the core segment of the summit—the YHS Challenge. Drawing on their solid professional grounding, excellent practical abilities, and cross-cultural collaboration skills, they successfully won the Excellence Award. They demonstrated the outstanding demeanor of BHI's hospitality management students among youth representatives from over 30 countries around the world, winning international honors for BHI.
This trip to Switzerland was not only an important opportunity to learn from the mature experience of the YHS Summit and lay the foundation for BHI's subsequent creation of FHS events, but also a precious chance to provide students with an international academic practice platform to temper their professional abilities and cross-cultural collaboration spirit on the global stage. From March 16 to 18, the BHI delegation deeply participated in all activities of the summit throughout the entire process. Through immersive learning, communication, and competition, they not only gained honors but also accumulated valuable experience in event organization and industry practice.

The 2026 YHS Summit was themed Savoir-Faire & Faire Savoir — celebrating the heritage and innovation of craftsmanship.The event brought together global hospitality executives, academic experts, and young students to discuss core topics such as the emotional value of service, digital transformation, leadership development, and luxury brand reinvention.Through keynote speeches, panel discussions, practical challenges, and networking sessions, the summit provided a premier platform for cross-generational exchange and professional growth in the global hospitality industry.
On March 16, the BHI delegation participated in the opening session of the summit.
Afterwards, they joined a campus tour and coffee break hosted by EHL students and faculty, gaining first-hand insight into the academic atmosphere and culture of the world's top hospitality management institution. Subsequently, they successively participated in panel discussions on "Crafting Standards of Emotion" and "The Art of Welcoming Guests," deeply learning the core logic of building emotional connections and front office service etiquette in hospitality services. During the keynote speech on "Courage to Innovate," they learned about the cutting-edge practices of digital transformation and sustainable development in the industry. Finally, focusing on the topic "People-Oriented: Guarding the Soul of Hospitality in the Digital Age," they explored the balance between technological application and humanistic care, laying a solid cognitive foundation for subsequent communication.

On March 17, the BHI delegation participated in a panel discussion titled "A New Hospitality Era for the New Generation of Talent," analyzing the talent needs of Generation Z and the transformation of industry talent cultivation. Through seminars on "Leadership in the Hospitality Industry" and "The Road to the Michelin Stars," they learned practical experience in cross-cultural team management and the creation of high-end luxury service standards. During the evening bonfire networking session, the two students engaged in in-depth conversations with young representatives from around the world, expanding their international industry networks.

On March 18, the delegation first participated in a career guidance workshop co-organized by the EHL Career Center to obtain professional advice on job seeking and career planning in the international hospitality industry. Later, the two students represented BHI in the "Challenge Presentation" segment, presenting team solutions based on real business cases, and demonstrating solid professional practical skills and cross-cultural collaboration competence. At the award ceremony and closing session, the faculty and students witnessed the recognition of outstanding young talents from around the globe, marking a milestone conclusion to their summit experience. In the evening, they attended the closing gala dinner held at the Lausanne Palace, bringing their international exchange journey to a successful end.

Faculty member Fan Yangyang paid close attention to the summit’s organizational structure, agenda setting, activity formats, and operational details, accumulating valuable experience for the design, process optimization, and brand building of the future FHS events. The outstanding performance of Shu Yuxin and Qiao Sirui in cross-cultural collaboration further demonstrated the solid results achieved through BHI’s practice-based education approach.
