- Classes taught in English will require proof of English proficiency (Internet-Based TOEFL of 80 or IELTS with an overall band score of 5.5)
- If you don’t have new HSK 5, you need to take the Chinese language proficiency exam. If you pass the exam, you are allowed to study with Chinese students, otherwise you will be advised to undergo Chinese courses at BHI. If you have already attained new HSK level 5 or above, you will be exempted from the Chinese language proficiency exam

About the Program
The tourism industry is a strategic pillar of China’s national economy. According to the statistics published in September 2014, there are currently a total of 11,687 Star-Hotels in China, amongst which 2,361 are four-star hotels and 739 are five-star ones. Room availability reaches 1.53 million and the original value of fixed assets is 501.7 billion yuan with a total income of more than 229.2 billion yuan. The tourism and hotel industry has become one of the best formats among China’s tourism industry and even throughout the service field, which is of fastest growth, largest scale, highest internationalization and best comprehensive benefits.
Objective & Employability Direction
The program develops the application competency and professionalism of students, preparing them with an international outlook to be qualified managerial talent in the hospitality industry.
Graduates are capable of starting their career in tourism fields such as the hotel, catering, aviation, clubs, cruises convention and exhibition, or engaged in other service industries (such as finance, healthcare, retail, transportation etc.)

Unique Professionalism
With a training hotel with Chinese and Western restaurants, state-of-the-art demo kitchen, bars, planned and designed according to hospitality standards, BHI students attend classes as well as operate the hotel, while the faculty not only deliver courses but also manage the hotel.
Based on the hospitality industry, the 4-year course reflects its hierarchical structure, developing students with basic managerial skills, followed by application and enhancement of knowledge and skills, finally integrating knowledge, skills and experience. The two operational and managerial internships respectively undertaken during the third and sixth semesters will test the learning results. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded Academic Certification signed by BHI.

Admission
The “Letter of Admission” and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW 201/202) will be sent to you after you submit your application documents. For the undergraduate program students, these documents will be sent to you before January 1st or July 31st.
Health Examination
If you will study at BHI for more than 6 months, you have to take and submit the standard visa health examination. You can choose one of the following two options: first, before you come to China, take the Foreigner Physical Examination Form, which is sent together with the Admission Notice, to a hospital or clinic. Ask the doctor to make the physical examination and fill up the form, sign and stamp on it. Bring the original copy of this form (including the original blood test report) to China, and verify it at the Beijing International Travel Healthcare Center to get a verification report. If your report is not qualified, you have to re-examine the failed items there. Second, after you come to China, take the physical examination at the Beijing International Travel Health Care Center, and get the examination report three days later.
Visa Information
Students admitted to BHI may apply for your visa at the Chinese Embassy/Consulate in your country with your Letter of Admission and JW201/202 form and some other designated documents. International students who will study in China for over 6 months are required to obtain an “X” Visa, which will be valid only for 30 days after your arrival in China. You need go to the International Exchange Center and apply for a Residence Permit within these 30 days in order to obtain a legal status in China.
Registration Period
Students should register on the date specified in the Letter of Admission, and pay the registration fee and tuition on the same day.
Note: Airport or train station pick-up service will be provided free of charge for the students who come to BHI for the first time. Students who need this service should inform the International Office by email with detailed arrival information 30 days before your arrival.

- Career: Graduates have been gainfully employed in various international 5-star hotels, luxury property management companies, renowned travel agencies, event management corporations and airlines. 65% of graduates are in hotel and travel related industries, 25% are employed in civil service, banking, telecommunications, real estate, coal, ecological and pharmaceutical industries; 10% study abroad and entrepreneurship.
- Internship: Students undergo internships in the third semester and the sixth semester during which they consolidate theoretical knowledge and master hands-on and communication skills, with an in-depth understanding of the industry, broadening their horizons, and enhancing their analytical and problem-solving ability. Presently, BHI has cooperated with nearly 150 major internationally renowned hotel groups.
