Know you Know World: the cultural and professional exploration of the third batch of Swiss Study Tour

On November 9,2024, the third batch of Swiss Study Tour team of BHI successfully arrived in Switzerland and officially kicked off the 10-day study tour with SEG. The manager of teaching hotel, Wang Ning and, Student Counselor Ma Xinyi led the team, with 17 students. Through hands-on practice and field visits, they explore the essence of Swiss hotel management education, and further broaden the breadth and depth of international vision.

On the first weekend in Switzerland, the group not only enjoyed the solemn atmosphere of the Olympic Museum, and the charming scenery of Switzerland, but also experienced the unique cultural charm of Switzerland. Through the immersive study of Switzerland's profound culture and long history, the students are not only impressed by its magnificent natural scenery, but also have a clearer understanding of the deep foundation of the hotel management professional education in Switzerland.

In the Olympic Museum, the students can intuitively feel the glorious history of global sports and the noble pursuit of the Olympic spirit; through the visit to the UN headquarters in Geneva, the students understand the important role and mission of the United Nations in global affairs, broaden the international vision, further understand the significance of transnational cooperation; and the tour between Lausanne and Geneva, let them fully appreciate the elegance of Switzerland and multicultural harmony. During this period, the students were deeply attracted by the unique local architectural style and rich cultural atmosphere, which not only broadened their horizons, but also deepened the friendship within the group.


The tour, full of laughter and laughter, not o nly made the students deeply feel the Swiss way of life, but also laid a solid foundation for their upcoming professional study. Many students shared their experiences, saying that such cultural infiltration not only greatly enriched their knowledge, but also injected full expectations and motivation into their next learning journey.

In the morning, the group came to the Leysen Campus of Swiss Hotel Management School to attend the banquet design master class. The students learned the planning and implementation of banquet activities, including spatial layout, decoration layout, menu design, etc., and personally experienced the organization process of high-end banquets. Through practical operation and guidance, they have a deep understanding of the professional requirements behind the hotel banquet.

In the afternoon, the research group visited the iconic Castle in Sion, Switzerland. The ancient medieval castle is located on the banks of Lake Leman, where students have guided the history, architectural features and its place in Swiss culture. They strolled through the stone walls and towers of the castle, like walking back to hundreds of years ago, immersed in the historical atmosphere of Switzerland.

In the morning, the students went to the Hotel Institute Montreux to take a luxury management course. In the course, professional lecturers lead students to have a deep understanding of the operation of luxury brand, brand building and high-end service through case analysis. Students learned how to identify the needs of high-end customers, understand why the luxury industry is unique, and other valuable knowledge.

In the afternoon, the students went to the famous Swiss Glacier 3000 scenic spot for an outdoor adventure, crossing the glacier and enjoying the magnificent scenery of the Alps at an altitude. They also took a cable car to the summit and experienced the famous "summit trail", walking between the snow-covered peaks and enjoying the shock and beauty of nature. This outdoor activity not only gave the students a chance to relax, but also made them feel the unique scenery of Switzerland.

In the morning, the students returned to SHMS to attend the hotel design course. The course covers the hotel space layout, functional design and customer experience, etc. The teacher helps students understand how space design can improve customers' accommodation experience through practical cases. The students personally designed a small hotel space and realized the direct impact of the hotel design on customer satisfaction.

In the afternoon, the team went to CAUX Mountain for hiking, enjoy the scenery of the lake along the way, and experience the natural beauty of Switzerland. During the hike, the students cooperated with each other to enhance the tacit understanding between the teams, and also gained peace and inspiration from the natural environment of Switzerland. This hiking activity was not only a physical exercise, but also brought us a spiritual relaxation, which is well prepared for the following study.

In the next few days, students will also participate in a variety of professional courses and cultural activities, including visiting the chocolate factory, the town of Gruyère, the French border town, etc. Please look forward to their harvest and experience in Switzerland.
