BHI Successfully Held the Dementia Friends Sharing Session and the Health Curriculum Seminar

    On March 24th, BHI Health Service and Management major held a special teaching and research activity with the theme of “Dementia Friends Sharing Session”. BHI President Gao Songtao, and Dean of Academic Affairs Department Xu Longyang as well as other BHI leaders attended this event together with off-campus experts from Dementia Friends (China), China-Japan Nursing Association, Beijing Bilangwan Health Industry Group, Riyi Home-based Care Service Co., Ltd and Beijing Aizhizhu Technology Training Center Co., Ltd. The event not only spread the professional knowledge about cognitive disorder, but also conducted in-depth discussion on the curriculum construction of Health Service and Management major in BHI.

    At the start, Dean Xu Longyang expressed his gratitude to the industry experts and teachers for their care and support to the construction of Health Service and Management major. Meanwhile, he affirmed the research enthusiasm of the Health Service and Management Office on the issues in the industry as well as their sharing spirit.

Sharing of Mr. Hong Li from Dementia Friends (China) 

    Dementia Friends is the largest and most influential social action in the field of cognitive disorder in the world. Now more than 70 countries and regions have joined this action, and the number of Dementia Friends has exceeded 20 million. In 2016, Memory Health 360 Project reached formal cooperation with Alzheimer's Society in the UK, introducing Dementia Friends into China and joining the global Dementia Friends collaborative network. Mr. Hong Li, the core member of Dementia Friends China team, shared the practice of Dementia Friends in China on the site.

Game activities on the site

    Wu Kai and Li Ruichao, teachers of the Health Service and Management Office, help the on-site teachers and guests know more about cognitive syndrome through games and other designed activities, which aroused the enthusiasm of the attendees.

    In the seminar about the curriculum construction of Health Service and Management major,  Shi Yonglei, director of Riyi Home-based Care Service Co., Ltd.,  highly recognized BHI’s educational philosophy, and showed his will to conduct in-depth college-enterprise cooperation support in the aspects of internship and employment, textbook writing, temporary positions for teachers, laboratory construction, etc., and to make contributions to the construction of Health Service and Management major.

    Cui Dandan, a representative from Beijing Bilangwan Health Industry Group, offered valuable suggestions on the curriculum design. She suggested that more integrated courses could be set up, such as combining nursing with rehabilitation, and combining nutrition with exercise.

    At the end of the activity, President Gao Songtao said that China is about to enter the aging society, and there is urgent need for solutions to various problems in the transformation process to aging society and the practical needs of300 million old people in the future. As a practitioner of application-oriented college, recently BHI has opened the new major of Health Service and Management. BHI will learn from the international cutting-edge education concepts and absorb the valuable practical wisdom of the industry to cultivate inter-disciplinary talents with both professional qualities and skills.
